Israel Tech Salaries 2026: Pay by Role and Experience, Built on 16,000+ Real Jobs
Published: · Data as of 2026-07-08
Searched “how much do tech jobs pay” and found ten different numbers? That is not an accident. Salary surveys in Israel are published mostly by recruiting firms, each with its own candidate pool, and each lands on a slightly different figure. This page does two things none of them does alone: it cross-checks several public 2026 sources into one table where every row is linked to its source, and it adds the demand side, meaning how many jobs are actually open at each level right now, drawn from a live index of more than 16,000 positions.
Let us be upfront: the salary numbers themselves are not ours. We do not ask for your salary at signup and we do not collect payslips, so the pay ranges here come from external sources we read and cross-checked. What is ours, refreshed weekly, is the demand data: how many roles are open, in which functions, and at which seniority level.
How much do tech jobs in Israel pay in 2026?
The average Israeli tech salary was ILS 39,810 gross per month in 2025, up 7.4% from ILS 37,071 the year before (GotFriends via Jerusalem Post, 2026). That is an average across every role and level, which makes it almost useless for any one person: a junior should not measure an offer against it, and a senior should not settle for it.
A few anchor numbers from different angles, to see the shape of it:
- Median total compensation, mid-level: about ILS 449k per year, roughly ILS 37k per month. Two independent sources land on nearly the same figure: Ravio, which benchmarks total reward (base salary, equity and variable pay), reports a median of ILS 448.9k (range ILS 396k to 502k), and Levels.fyi reports a median total comp of ILS 449,380. When sources that collect data in different ways converge on the same number, you can lean on it.
- Sector average, whole industry: ILS 34,657 per month in the information and communications sector (CBS, February 2026, via mysachar). That is lower than the recruiter averages, because a recruiting firm’s candidate pool skews upward by roughly 10% to 15%.
- The AI premium: roles touching LLMs, RAG and NLP earned an average of ILS 43,212, about 9% more than other technical roles (GotFriends, 2026). RAG and GenAI specialists reached ILS 45k to 46k.
The distinction to hold on to: “total compensation” figures from Ravio and Levels.fyi include equity and bonus, so they run higher than the base salary in the table below. Base salary is what lands in your account each month; total compensation is what the package is worth on paper.
Salary table by role
The table shows gross monthly base salary, in shekels, by seniority. Ranges are the 25th to 75th percentile, meaning the middle of the market rather than the extremes. Sources: the GotFriends salary tables (a pool of about 15,000 candidates) cross-checked with a mysachar compilation that draws on GotFriends, Ravio 2026 and CBS data. The two agree on most rows to within ILS 1k to 2k.
| Role | Junior (0 to 2) | Mid (3 to 5) | Senior (6 to 10) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Backend Developer | ILS 22k to 27k | ILS 30k to 37k | ILS 38k to 48k |
| Frontend Developer | ILS 22k to 27k | ILS 28k to 37k | ILS 36k to 46k |
| Full-Stack Developer | ILS 20k to 26k | ILS 27k to 37k | ILS 34k to 45k |
| DevOps / SRE | ILS 25k to 30k | ILS 32k to 40k | ILS 38k to 48k |
| Data / ML Engineer | ILS 22k to 35k | ILS 30k to 45k | ILS 40k to 55k |
| QA / Automation | ILS 18k to 25k | ILS 24k to 33k | ILS 30k to 40k |
| Product Manager | ILS 22k to 28k | ILS 28k to 40k | ILS 40k to 52k |
Two caveats you cannot skip. First, a recruiting firm’s pool skews upward: these are people already in a job move, usually at companies that pay well, so the numbers run above the median for everyone in the role. Second, they exclude equity, and at large companies equity can add 20% to 50% on top of base. For senior hardware and silicon engineers, full packages reach ILS 730k to over ILS 1M per year (nucamp, 2026).
What moves your salary more than anything? 5 factors
Before you haggle over ILS 1k, it helps to know what actually moves the needle. From the cross-checked sources and our own demand data, here are the five factors, in order of force:
- Seniority, by a wide margin. Going from junior to senior roughly doubles pay, more than any other factor. It is also where demand is strongest: the JobFox market map, which counts every open tech job in Israel plus remote-abroad roles at Israeli-native companies (18,633 roles in all), has 7,748 senior openings against 1,233 junior ones, a ratio of more than 6 to 1. The median minimum experience a role requires is 5 years.
- Specialty within the craft. A backend developer and a QA engineer at the same seniority earn materially different pay. Data, ML and AI sit at the top; QA and automation sit lower, and that is exactly where pay stayed flat at best over the past year.
- The AI wave, which lifts only part of the market. People working on LLMs and RAG earn 9% or more above their peers, while in more general roles like QA, mobile and non-core development, pay stayed flat at best and slipped in real terms (JPost, December 2025).
- Company size and type. A giant with liquid equity pays differently from a seed-stage startup. Base may be similar, but total compensation diverges. Software engineers at the top payers reach packages above ILS 1M per year.
- Location, but less than you think. Tel Aviv leads, yet the gap between cities is smaller than expected and is sometimes eaten by cost of living. We broke that down fully in the tech salary by city guide.
How these numbers were calculated
In short: the demand data is ours and current as of the pull date; the salary data comes from public sources we cross-checked.
The demand side (how many jobs, which roles, which level) comes straight from JobFox data, scraped continuously from company career sites and applicant-tracking APIs. As of 8 July 2026 our directly-tracked index held 16,866 open positions across 5,735 companies. The level and function breakdowns on this page come from the JobFox market map, which widens the picture to every open tech job in Israel plus remote-abroad roles at Israeli-native companies (18,633 roles in that pull). More on the method on the methodology page.
The salary side: we do not collect payslips, so the pay ranges come from external sources we read while preparing this page, including the GotFriends salary tables, Ravio Israel 2026, Levels.fyi, a mysachar compilation, and CBS figures for February 2026. The rule we set ourselves: every headline range rests on at least two independent sources, and every row is linked. Where sources disagreed, we gave the range that spans them and said so. If a number could not be verified, the row simply did not make it in.
That also explains why our salary coverage is partial, and that is fine. It is better to say “we have the full demand side and the salary side from the best sources available” than to invent a median for every role. When we have direct salary data, we will update and stamp the date.
Frequently asked questions
What is the average software developer salary in Israel?
The median mid-level software engineer in 2026 earns about ILS 449k gross per year in total compensation, roughly ILS 37k per month, per Ravio and Levels.fyi, which land on nearly the same figure independently. The all-levels tech average was ILS 39,810 per month in 2025 (GotFriends). A mid-level backend developer typically takes home ILS 30k to 37k gross per month in base pay.
How much does a junior developer earn in Israel?
A junior developer (0 to 2 years of experience) typically earns ILS 20k to 27k gross per month, depending on specialty and company (GotFriends and mysachar, 2026). Junior QA sits lower, around ILS 18k to 25k, while junior data or ML can reach ILS 35k. Note that junior roles are scarce: they are under 8% of open positions on the JobFox market map.
Did tech salaries in Israel go up or down in 2026?
On average, up: by 7.4% between 2024 and 2025, to ILS 39,810 per month (GotFriends). But the average hides splits: AI, LLM and RAG roles climbed to ILS 43k to 46k, while in more general roles like QA, mobile and non-core development, pay stayed flat at best and slipped in real terms against inflation (JPost, December 2025). It is a two-tier market, and demand tilts clearly toward senior talent.
What is the salary range for a senior developer in Israel?
A senior developer (6 to 10 years) usually earns ILS 38k to 48k gross per month in base pay, and ILS 40k to 55k in data and AI (GotFriends, mysachar). The 75th percentile of total compensation for software engineers in Israel is ILS 558k per year, about ILS 46k per month including equity and bonus (Levels.fyi, 2026).
