How Many Tech Jobs Are Open in Israel Right Now? The Live Count
Published: · Data as of 2026-07-08
How many tech jobs are actually open in Israel this minute? It sounds like a simple question, and most answers you will find are wrong: they either count duplicate ads across several boards, or they include ghost jobs that closed long ago. This page gives one clean, dated number, and explains exactly what it includes. We refresh it once a month, so the figure you see here is always close to real time.
How many roles are open today?
As of 8 July 2026, there are 18,633 open tech jobs on the JobFox market map. The map counts every open tech role located in Israel plus remote-abroad roles posted by Israeli companies, across 1,595 companies hiring right now.
Two numbers are easy to confuse, so it is worth separating them:
- 18,633 roles on the market map: this is the market measure, every open tech role relevant to an Israeli job seeker.
- 16,866 roles in the JobFox index: these are the roles actually listed and shown with us, across 5,735 companies. A slightly narrower measure, because it does not include every role mapped in the broader market view.
The market is also in constant motion. In the week ending 8 July, 2,645 new roles opened, about 14% of all open positions. Put differently, one in every seven roles open today simply did not exist a week ago. Anyone who searches and then pauses for two weeks misses thousands of freshly posted roles.
Where the jobs are: the breakdown by function
Demand in Israeli tech is extremely concentrated around one function: engineering. Here is how open roles split by function on the JobFox market map (the table shows the top ten functions):
| Function | Open roles | Share of market |
|---|---|---|
| Engineering | 6,020 | 32% |
| Sales | 2,579 | 14% |
| Operations | 1,713 | 9% |
| Customer Success | 930 | 5% |
| Data | 808 | 4% |
| Marketing | 784 | 4% |
| Management | 756 | 4% |
| Finance | 680 | 4% |
| Security | 596 | 3% |
| Product | 569 | 3% |
Three takeaways. First, engineering alone is larger than sales, operations and data combined. Even in a market that talks nonstop about AI, the biggest demand is still for software engineers. Second, the business roles, sales and operations and customer success, together make up a meaningful slice, a reminder that tech is far more than writing code. Third, product, one of the most coveted functions, sits only tenth with 569 roles, which explains why competition for product jobs feels so crowded.
By seniority, the market clearly skews experienced. Of the roles classified by level, 7,748 are senior positions and only 1,233 are junior. The overwhelming majority of employers want people with a track record, and the median minimum experience required across roles is 5 years.
How many roles are actually remote?
Far fewer than you might think. Fully remote work in Israeli tech is still the minority, not the default. Here is how the 18,633 roles split by work arrangement:
- Fully on-site: 12,572 roles, 67.5%.
- Hybrid: 2,954 roles, 15.9%.
- Fully remote: 3,107 roles, 16.7%.
The conclusion: only about a third of roles (32.6%, hybrid and remote combined) offer any flexibility, and only about a sixth are open to fully working from home. If remote is a must for you, it helps to know up front that you are competing for a relatively small slice of the market, and to filter for it from the start.
Why this number differs from what you read in the news, 3 reasons
You will often see headlines quoting a completely different figure, much larger or smaller than 18,633. It is almost never a contradiction, just a difference in definitions. Here are the three main reasons:
- They measure different things. “Open tech jobs” can mean the count on a single job board, a government job-vacancy survey (which counts by a different statistical method), or a broad market estimate. We count unique roles scraped directly from companies’ own career sites and applicant-tracking APIs, deduplicated. The base is simply different.
- Ghost ads inflate other counts. Boards that aggregate listings from many sources without re-verifying them accumulate dead ads: roles already filled or cancelled but still displayed. Our index is live-verified, and a role closes with us after it disappears from the company’s career site across several consecutive scrapes. More in our piece on ghost jobs in Israel.
- Different inclusion rules. The same role posted to three boards is three ads to an aggregator, and one role to us. We also include remote-abroad roles at Israeli companies, because they are relevant to a local job seeker, and we count at the source, on the company’s own career page. These rules can move the number in either direction relative to other counts.
A note on method
The numbers on this page are scraped continuously from company career sites and applicant-tracking APIs, as of 8 July 2026. The market map (18,633 roles) counts every open tech role located in Israel plus remote-abroad roles at Israeli companies, across 1,595 hiring companies. The JobFox index (16,866 roles across 5,735 companies) is the set of roles actually listed with us. Both numbers are correct, they simply measure different scopes, and we never present them as the same metric. Full detail on the methodology page.

How many new tech jobs open each week?
In the week ending 8 July 2026, 2,645 new roles opened on the JobFox market map, about 14% of all open positions. That tells you the Israeli tech market is in constant churn: roles close and open all the time, so a job search that pauses for two weeks misses thousands of freshly posted roles.
Which function hires the most in Israeli tech?
Engineering, by a wide margin. 6,020 of the 18,633 open roles are in engineering, about a third of the market. Next come sales (2,579), operations (1,713), customer success (930) and data (808). Even in a market that talks endlessly about AI, the biggest demand is still for software engineers.
How many Israeli tech jobs are remote?
Only about a third offer any flexibility. Of 18,633 roles, 12,572 (67.5%) are fully on-site, 2,954 (15.9%) are hybrid and 3,107 (16.7%) are fully remote. Fully remote work is still far from the default in Israeli tech.
How often are these numbers updated?
